                                      Mike Kraft (Principal)

                                      BIO 

Mr. Kraft has over 20 years of significant knowledge, experience and success in guiding and assisting both governmental and public sector organizations to establish an understandable Enterprise Architecture (EA).  He has assisted those organizations to then effectively mature and utilize their EA to guide strategic, tactical and migration technology program investments, project management activities, and provide production operational performance guided by business and standards based Service Level Agreements. During the past 5 years Mr. Kraft has served in a lead capacity role on EA efforts for both the Bureau of Land Management and the Bureau of Reclamation.  Mr. Kraft’s’ experience also includes several consulting engagements, as well as, staff / management positions in financial, commercial banking and telecommunications industry firms which provides him with a broad range of real world, personal knowledge to draw from.  

During his recent support of both Department of Interior bureau efforts, Mr. Kraft has lead the design and development of reusable sets of architecture assessment / management processes, methodologies, repository, reporting and communication tools while also assisting those organizations to organizational / politically move forward with their Enterprise Architecture improvement efforts. These tools have been tailored to meet each organization’s unique needs and current level of EA maturity.  Tool development has occurred in parallel with the creation and capture of all of the work products and details related to the Baseline (As-Is) and Target (Desired) Architecture views of Business Drivers, Goals / Objectives, Functional and Operational Processes, Data(Information), Applications and Technology Infrastructure components.  

Improvement opportunity and business threat / need analysis results were, and are continuing to be, achieved in compliance with regulatory requirements of the Clinger-Cohen Act.  More importantly these EA outputs result in an improved alignment of the entire business enterprise through effective technology transition plans, capital planning and investment portfolio management.   Mr. Kraft is very familiar with various industry level business best practices and modeling methodologies such as: The Zachman Enterprise Framework, Spiwak Methodology, ISO, and SEI Capability Maturity Model.   

Mr. Kraft is an accomplished facilitator and has successfully conducted hundreds of business process and data modeling / improvement sessions with business subject matter experts along with using various automated modeling tools to capture the results of those sessions. Mr. Kraft is knowledgeable and experienced with regulatory and federal governance guidelines, including GPRA, OMB A-130, GPEA, E-Gov, Presidents Management Agenda, Certification / Accreditation and Security / Privacy. 

Mr. Kraft has held positions as a Sr. Program Manager, Applications Development Manager, and, Senior Director of I.T. Planning and Decision Support Systems. Many of these positions have involved leading large teams of software engineers, project leads, business analysts and so forth, in the development and on-going maintenance of business operation applications, data warehouses and customer management systems.   

Mr. Kraft has extensive project management background both as an individual project lead and in establishing and directing organization-wide project portfolio management guidance and coordination mechanisms such as a Project Management Office.  Mr. Kraft is certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and received his BS and MBA degrees from the University of Colorado.
